Leading the Set | Cheap Caribbean
Challenge
Producing national television commercials in Mexico required coordinating creative vision with the realities of international production. Each campaign brought together internal creative and production teams, agency leadership, wardrobe partners, cast members, equipment shipments crossing international borders, location logistics, and local Mexican production crews — all working toward a fixed production schedule with little room for error.
With every department depending on clear direction and timely decisions, success was determined long before the first camera rolled.
Contribution
Served as Director on multiple integrated advertising campaigns, leading productions from concept through final execution. Working alongside our in-house producer and production team, I guided creative development while coordinating casting, location scouting throughout Mexico, wardrobe planning with trusted vendor partners, equipment transportation through customs, and collaboration with local second-unit production crews.
Pre-production became the foundation of every successful shoot. Storyboards, shot lists, production schedules, creative reviews, and cross-functional alignment ensured every contributor understood both the creative vision and their role in delivering it. By the time production began, the team could focus on execution instead of uncertainty, adapting quickly to changing conditions without losing momentum.
Outcome
The resulting work reached millions of travelers across television and digital channels, including more than 16.5 million YouTube views. More importantly, the experience reinforced a leadership philosophy that has shaped my career ever since: when expectations are clear and preparation is thorough, talented teams can do their best work under pressure.
